Director of Tax
Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of corporate income/franchise taxes. - Manage workflow and supervise tax department staff. - Determine staffing needs to accomplish objectives. - Responsible for the development, training and mentoring of personnel. Tax accounting under FAS 109 including quarter end reviews and year end financial statements and audit. - Reconciliation of tax accounts and drafting of income tax disclosures for financial statements. - Review foreign jurisdiction tax provisions. Assist with the completion of FIN 48 analysis for company - federal, state and foreign. - Document all income tax positions. - Determine which tax positions may be recognized. - Measure uncertain tax position benefits. Responsible for accurate and timely filing of all U.S. income and franchise tax returns. - Determine appropriate filing positions. - Estimated payments. - Keep current with federal and state law changes and changes in BIC’s business, and modify tax positions, procedures and systems accordingly. Identify process improvements, implement changes and ensure best practices. - Complete implementation of In-Source provision software. - Maintain and update, as appropriate, accurate systems for federal and state compliance, including software and policies and procedures. - Ensure compliance with SOX internal control requirements. Tax research, planning and analysis, and special projects. - Provide tax impact on business transactions. - Determine appropriate courses of action and detailed plans for implementation. Valued business partner. - Develop detailed understanding of the business. - Advise business partners with respect to tax matters. Ongoing communication with Vice President of Finance. - Inform of all issues and daily activities affecting the department, including business issues, in a timely fashion.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. - CPA and/or MST. - Combined Big 4 public and private accounting experience in corporate tax environment - 10+ years direct tax experience including most recent 2 years in Senior Management or Director level positions. - Significant project management skills required. - Strong training and people development skills. - Strong background in both federal and state income tax compliance and planning, with strong FAS 109 and FIN 48 knowledge and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills.
