Senior Accountant
A publicly traded biotech company in Montgomery County, MD, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Accountant for their growing company.
The Senior Accountant will perform a range of accounting functions including the preparation, analysis, and review of general ledger accounts and other duties as assigned. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate with the Assistant Controller and Controller. There is significant interaction with the VP of Finance and other Finance team members as well. Some interaction with auditors in conjunction with quarterly financial statement and internal control audit needed.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and month-end close work papers in accordance with GAAP and Company policies/procedures for areas including, but not limited to, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, intercompany, and other miscellaneous asset and liability accounts.
- Prepare sales & use tax returns
- Prepare property tax returns
- Perform special projects for management as necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university or equivalent experience.
- 3-4 years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm or publicly traded company required,
- Big 4 public accounting experience a plus
- CPA preferred
- Strong personal accountability and strong work ethic
- Self-starter
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to organize and complete work related projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to work under pressure when given a task(s) that may require overtime to complete it.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
